Instructions

Initiating a Case

  1. Go to www.virtualcourthouse.com
  2. Click on Start Your Case Now
  3. Use the drop down box to select the Case type, Subject Matter and location the incident took place. Click Next
  4. Type in Name of your client and select your role using the drop down box.
  5. In “Brief description box” include just two or three sentences about the claim, i.e. Claimant driving on Rt95 when defendant changed lanes and rear ended the claimant’s vehicle.” Please also type in the name of the insurance company and the claim number.
  6. The opposing party is the defendant’s name.
  7. Enter the name and contact information for the adjuster (they are the Respondent’s Representative)
  8. A list of Neutrals will appear. You may select up to three choices. Click on the box adjacent to the name and then Select for Case.
  9. Using the drop down box, rank your neutrals, 1st choice~2nd choice~3rd choice.
  10. Select for case; Click Done. The case initiation will be sent to the claimant’s representative (usually the adjuster) by both e-mail and ordinary mail. A VirtualCourthouse Customer Service representative will follow up on the letter.

 

Joining a Case as a Non-Registered User

  1. Go to www.virtualcourthouse.com
  2. In the “Join a Case” box on the left, click on If you have an account with us, please join the case.
  3. Complete each field and click on Create New User. Note: When creating your user id and password, please be sure to type all characters in lower case.
  4. Review the agreement and click on Accept.
  5. Re-enter your user id and password.
  6. Click on Cases at the top
  7. Click on Join a Case
  8. Enter the Case ID and Confirmation Code which appears on the invitation letter you received via email.
  9. As the Plaintiff’s Representative, your role is the Claimant’s Representative.
  10. As the Defendant’s Representative, your role is the Respondent’s Representative.
  11. You will receive a message at the top of the screen which states “You have successfully joined the case.”
  12. Click on Cases at the top and the case will appear.
  13. Click on Neutral Selection. You will see the other parties’ choices for a Neutral, ranked in the order of their preference. Using the drop down boxes, rank the names that appear, and click on Submit Rankings. If you would like to add additional choices of your own, click on More Neutrals.
  14. We recommend that you use the respective Comments Box as a communications tool to document the proposed/negotiated hi/low or any other notes pertinent to the case.
  15. Click on Submit Comments.

 

Joining a Case as a Registered User

  1. Go to www.virtualcourthouse.com
  2. Click on If you already have an account.
  3. Follow steps 6-12 above.

 

Completing your Case Presentation as the Claimant's Representative

  1. Go to www.virtualcourthouse.com
  2. LOGIN by entering your user id and password.
  3. Click on Case Presentation.
  4. The first box is where your case narrative should be entered; the box below is for any counterclaims.
  5. Submitting evidence: Each vendor should be scanned in as a separate file. ( i.e., Dr Jones Report, Dr Smith Report, Physical Therapy notes) After you have successfully uploaded a scanned file, you will receive a message at the top of the screen, advising you that your file has been successfully uploaded. The files which should be scanned in as evidence are non-monetary evidence, i.e. accident report, photos, medical records, audits The files which should be scanned in as damages are monetary evidence, i.e. medical bills, repair estimate, lost wage statement, prescription receipts, mileage log.
  6. Once the case presentation and the counterclaims have been entered, click on Submit ADR.

 

Completing your Case Presentation as the Respondent's Representative

  1. Go to www.virtualcourthouse.com
  2. LOGIN by entering your user id and password.
  3. Your ADR cases will appear.
  4. Click on the Case ID to review the case presentation.
  5. You will see the plaintiff attorney’s case presentation, list of damages and supporting evidence. Remember, when you see text in blue, you may click on it to view the entire document.
  6. Go back to the ADR screen and click on Case Presentation.
  7. The first box is where your case narrative should be entered the box below is for any counterclaims.
  8. Evidence: If you do not have additional evidence to present that has not already been submitted by the other party, click on Skip this Step.
  9. Once the case presentation and the counterclaims have been entered, click on Submit ADR.

 

The Neutral will be notified that the case presentation is complete and will review the evidence and render a decision. You will be notified by e-mail when the decision is filed.
